Packing List
Course curriculum and study materials will be provided upon arrival and throughout the trip.
It is required to follow the following packing list. Participants with items in excess of that listed here will be forced to leave it at the CDSG “base” camp. This is due to the Corcovado portion of the trip which entails a 2-hour boat ride where space is very limited. On the back-end of the trip (in Jaco, after the Corcovado section is over), your excess items will be returned to you and you will be free to shop for souvenirs and other personal items. Please leave jewelry at home
Personal Clothing, Males and Females:
- 1 Pair of casual clothes for travel and last night dinner
- 3 Underwear (lightweight, fast drying)
- 2 Pair socks (smart wool, or similar)
- 2 T-shirts (preferably poly or poly/cotton blend)
- 2 shorts (lightweight, fast drying)
- 1 Pair pants (lightweight, non-cotton)
- 1 Outer layer wind jacket (Gore-Tex isn't necessary, an uncoated nylon wind shell is all you need)
- 1 Rain poncho with a hood
- 1 Bandana
- 1 Beach towel or sarong
- 1 Sun hat (baseball cap works)
- Pack towel (shammy)
Foot Wear :
- 1 Pair medium-weight hiking boots. They should provide good ankle support, and be BROKEN IN, NOT NEW!
- 1 Pair of sandals or tevas.
Personal Gear:
- 1 Personal journal, paper, envelops, and pens
- 1 Pair UVA/UVB protection sunglasses. Polarized lenses are better as you will be on the water a great deal of time. Also include a secure strap for your glasses.
- 1 Bottle of insect repellent
- 1 Lip salve or balm- with sunscreen
- 1 Bottles sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
- 1 Toiletry kit: toothbrush, toothpaste, biodegradable soap, small shampoo supply, deodorant
- Full photocopies of passport and plane ticket
Females
- 1 Sport swimsuit,
- 1 Board Shorts/ Swim trunks
- 1 Comfortable sports bra
Males
- 1 Board shorts/ swim trunks
Alcohol, Drugs, and Tobacco
Participants are asked to refrain from tobacco use during the duration of the course. Alcohol and illegal drug are strictly prohibited. Failure to abide by our alcohol and drug policy will result in expulsion from course without a refund.
Cameras
Bring your camera if you want to record the events of your course. However, due to the nature of the course, you run the risk of losing or damaging your camera. A durable case and a zip-lock bag will help protect it from the elements. Do not bring large amounts of camera equipment.
Radios, CDs, iPods, and Personal Stereos
Radios, CD Players, iPods and any other Personal Music Devices are not permitted on course. If you bring music for your flight you must keep it at CDSG for the duration of your course.
