Happy Hearts and Happy Valentine's weekend to all of you. It's nice to have three day weekend so that you'll have an extra day to cuddle this weekend. We celebrated the 100th day of school as well. It's been a great 100 days so far and let's make the second half even better. As the middle school dancers say, "Spread the Love" this weekend and maybe we'll see you singing with the bluesmen at the Happy Snapper this weekend at the Brasilito Fiesta!

If anyone is interested in swim lessons for their children or for themselves we have a solution for you. Eric Coquereaux, our PE teacher, is offering classes after school every day as soon as after school activities are over. He is experienced and certified and has many years experience teaching children and adults to swim. I have attached the information about cost and times the classes will be offered. Beach Chalenge Volunteers Needed!
Those of you who have been a part of the CDSG community for a while know what a great event our Annual Beach Challenge is, and how important it has become to our community. It is an integral part of our school. For those of you who are new and don't know about the Beach Challenge, you are in for a real treat this April 25th. This event will take place on the beach in Potrero and will include lots of sporting activities and contests for the whole family. It also raises money for local charities and for sports equipment for CDSG. How can you help? We need volunteers to approach businesses in the community to purchase advertising space on our Beach Challenge T-Shirt and on pages in our yearbook. We need someone from each community. If you would like to help us find sponsors please contact me or Jerry Hirsch. Jerry has been kind enough to volunteer many hours of his time over the past couple of years putting this together. It would be nice to have some new people step in and volunteer a few hours in order to assure that this event takes place. This has always been a parent project. I would like to thank Andy Kittel and Kristi Akin for their early support of the project.

Wear Your School Uniforms Everyday
You may hear grumblings from your teenager that Mr. Haun is becoming obsessed with school uniforms and I must tell you it is true. I hate having policies in the handbooks if we're not going to enforce them and the policy of CDSG is that students wear their uniforms. I understand that sometimes uniforms are dirty, but I am more concerned with the students that regularly show up out of uniforom. I've officailly been here long anough to know which students regularly decide simply not to comply. Students will be warned, detentioned and possibly suspended for repeated violations of the uniform policy. The students have also been told. Besides, they all look so nice in the uniforms :)

SLP Corner If parents have speech/language/academic concerns about their child, then parents should notify classroom teachers and/or myself. I think that's how it's working, and it's working well. If a teacher has concerns about a student, parents should be notified before I am in contact with the parents - - I think that's how it's working, and it's working well too!.
Thank you, Tara

Swimming
If your child is in Swimming on Thursdays, please make sure that you send the following items in a plastic bag marked "Swimming": towel, sunscreen, bathing suit, flip flops. Please put your child's name on all clothing and on the sunscreen bottle. There are 20 kids in Swimming and it is difficult to know where all the items go after swimming is over! Thank you!
