Director's Corner

We had another terrific week at Country day. We were fortunate to have the college counselor from Country Day Escazu visit for a day and a hal with all of our 11th and 12th grade students discussing college applications, how to decide where to go to school, and how best to prepare for college. She simply reinforced all of the things that our staff have been telling them all year. It was an exciting visit and got our students very excited again and motivated to do all they can to be prepared.

We also celebrated Earth Day by helping to clean up Brailito Beach all morning today. The elementary students and many of their parents were there to help. I was proud to watch them work so hard and so happily. I was even approached by some of the local families who live in the area as they expressed their thanks for the work our kids were doing.

Did you see the swim meet and soccer games last week? The swim meet was a dazzling display of fun, competition and sportsmanship, and was extremely well organized by Mr. Townley. Of course he couldn't have done it without so many parent volunteers out in the sun sweating (melting) for hours as timers and corrdinators. Parents from Liberia, Lakeside school, and Escazu were also here to particpate and help. It was great to see the kids all so happy to win medals and just be able to participate. Great event Gaylord! (please send me pictures if you have them so I can include them next week!).

We also had some great soccer that same Saturday night between Escazu and CDSG. The boys played a very tight game losing by only one goal and the girls continued their winning streak by defeating Escazu 3 to 1. We're proud of both teams. Thank you so much to our coaches who devote so much time and energy to these student athletes. (and again...please send me pictures to include in next week's newsletter!).

SEE YOU ALL TONIGHT AT THE COFFEEHOUSE AND IN THE MORNING AT THE BEACH CHALLENGE!

Coffe House Coming

Remember to plan to be at our annual Coffee House event. This is the time when many of our students and teachers come to show off their many talents from theatre to song or spoken work or just plain goofiness. It's all in fun and a good time for all. Next friday evening at 6:00, be there.

Monica Riascos' Workshops

Every week Mrs. Reascos is hosting a different workshop for parents and teachers concerning child development and learning styles and other important issues to help us better understand our childrens' development and how we can be more effective parents and teachers. I invite you all to come and participate in these valuable sessions. We are fortunate to have someone as knowledgeable and talented on our staff. Thank you Monica!
