"La Casa"
Friday, June 4th, at 7:00 pm
The Spanish Natives Drama, La Casa, is a play in three acts, by Costa Rican author Daniel Gallegos. "La Casa" (The House), is a play that deals with respect of individual freedom within a group (in this case, a family). The house has a potential of turning into a jail, and its inhabitants into prisoners who desperately want to flee... A widow, a mother who lives in a world of artificial bliss and social etiquette, three daughters who each portray a stereotype: the rebel, the saint, the spinster; and a brother, the only male female figure in the house, an overprotected, frustrated dreamer; all together embark in what seems to be an ideal project for everyone: buying the house they have rented for all of their lives. This seemingly harmless plan awakens a long repressed desire for change, that will lead gradually, but without any possibility of turning back, into a tragic turn of events...
Students of the 9th and 10th grade Spanish Natives class bring this dramatic piece to life:
Margo Wilson, Morgan Osborne, Karol Brenes, Lilly Pandis, Andres Rohr, Alejandro Salcedo, under the direction of Gabriel McLean and Mrs. Monica Riascos.
Come and see us this Friday, June 4th, at 7:00 pm, at the CDSG Cafetorium. Entrance is free.
