CDSG Agenda
Dear CDSG Community,

I hope you will join us tomorrow for our Sports Day and Silent Auction. We are busy preparing the gym, purchasing nachos and hot dogs to sell, setting up the tables for the silent auction and preparing our athletes to do their best out on the court and field. It is always an exciting time to be a Pirate! Tomorrow, we will feature our ever expanding girls' basketball team as they go head to head with ICS (International Christian School) from Liberia. Our varsity boys will play their hearts out as well, as they always do. Our junior basketball and soccer teams are really coming together and will put on a great show for us as well. Swimming will be featured in two weeks and then again at our next Sports Day in March so stay tuned for more information on that as I am sure our team of swimmers will not disappoint. All athletes are fortunate to be coached by great mentors and leaders. Please tell those coaches how much you appreciate their hard work and efforts with our kids.
Our character traits for the month of February are Love and Friendship. I hope you will join me as we encourage our children to work on their friendships this month. Bullying takes many forms and is not always violent, and is often more subtle and "under the radar." I have always loved this school for the fact that when you peek into our cafeteria during lunchtime, you can't tell who is in which "group" or even who is in which grade, for that matter. Our community is small but tight knit and that is something that is extremely valuable and sets us apart from other schools both in the area and abroad. We need to realize how special that is and foster friendships between one another. That will be my focus this month at school and I hope it will be yours this month at home.

Have a great week!
Warmly,
Sincerely,
Sarah Haun

  • Facebook

Please check out our CDSG Facebook page! It contains lots of photos and school related information.

  • Golden Garbage Can

We take great pride in our school. We have a beautiful campus and we need to keep it that way! Each week, we will choose a classroom that is clean on the inside and out. This means that lockers are closed and have locks on them, there is no garbage on the ground around the classroom, items are stored in lockers or on top of lockers and not on the floor, backpacks are on hooks inside the classrooms, etc. The class that does this each week will win the "Golden Garbage Can" award. The Golden Garbage Can will be filled with something tasty or fun so be prepared and let's take initiative to make our school SHINE! Last week's winners were 7th grade and 3rd grade. Today, the 6th graders took the trophy…who will be our LS winners? We will find out on Friday!

  • Roadmap to College

This will be a very informative presentation by Kim Baldwin and Scott Muller. All parents of MS and US students are invited and encouraged to attend. You will learn about necessary tests for college, how to prepare your child for those tests, testing dates and what those tests mean. You will also learn about when to start thinking about college for your child, how to prepare for the application process, the college search, etc. This is not just for juniors! This is for anyone who has plans to attend college in the future. Come and learn what it is all about!

  • Coffee Talks

I am available each Tuesday from 2:45 until 3:45 in the library for coffee and conversation. Bring your ideas, concerns and questions. Please remember that every Tuesday from 2:45-3:45 I will be available in the library for parents who would like to come, share ideas and concerns. This is in an effort to keep our Parent Committee meetings focused on the agenda. I invite you to come to this time whenever you wish!

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK

The Character Trait for January

Love and Friendship

"Most people come into our lives and quickly leave. It is the special few that come in and leave a footprint in our hearts, and we are forever changed."

No lapse of time or distance of place can lessen the friendship of those who are truly persuaded of each other's worth."
